| Maathra –2009 An Evening of Vivacious Rhythm and Rhyme In aid of the Prisoners’ Welfare Programme |
“Maathra – 2009”, the Cultural Dancing Concert, will be held at 6.30 pm on 13th October 2009 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo 07.
The unique concert is organized by the Kandyan Dancing Division of the Lyceum International Schools in collaboration with Wattala, Panadura, Ratnapura and Gampaha branch schools.
The concert will be a grand cultural show of top 300 dancing students under the supervision of 26 dedicated dancing teachers of Lyceum Schools.
“Maathra – 2009’’ will be held under the supervision of Mr. Rasika Kothalawala Dancing Coordinator of the Lyceum International Schools and under patronage of Mr.Mohan Lal Grero, founder of the Lyceum International Schools and Mrs Kumari Grero, Coordination Principal.
At this exciting cultural show you will have a variety of Kandyan Dancing items, as well as fusion dance items specially created for the concert.
The proceeds of this show will be utilized to fund the Prisoners’ Welfare Programme, which was jointly organized under the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation.
The organizing committee wishes to extend its invitation to everyone who wishes to help Corporate Social Responsibility activities, to come and watch Maathra – 2009.

| A Street Exhibition of Oil Paintings & Batik Creations |
“Veedi Basina Siththaru”- ARTISTS TREADING THE STREETS is an exhibition of Oil Paintings and Batik Creations of Sri - Lankan young artists organized and sponsored by the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation. This exhibition held at Nugegoda Junction (Facing the High Level Road) recently from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm. The Mohan Lal Grero Foundation has organized four Art Exhibitions so far and this is the first street exhibition organized by it.
The main objective of this street art and batik exhibition is to give recognition locally and internationally to the creative talents of, up & coming Sri Lankan artists. Presently, Sri Lankan artists are faced with the problem of selling their products due to the reduction in the number of tourist coming in to our country. These artists find it very difficult to find a market for their products. With the paucity of the tourist industry, it has become difficult to find local buyers too. By holding exhibitions of this nature, the hidden artistic talents of our young artists would be exhibited to the society |

| “ Imaginations “ – (Sith Luu Siththam)
An Exhibition of Creative Oil Paintings & Batik Creations |
“Imaginations” – (Sith Luu Siththam) is an exhibition of Creative Oil painting and Batik creations aimed at uplifting, nurturing and developing the creative skills and talents of Sri Lankan youth, engaged in creative arts and also exposing them to a wider spectrum of local as well as International experience.
The Exhibition was organized under the patronage of “The Mohan Lal Gereo Foundation” as a component of its free education scheme, and will be held on the 20th and 21st of December 2008 at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, Colombo.
The rare and imaginative creations of world renowned creative artists and Batik designer Mr. Somarathna Gomes’ creations, together with the productions of sixty of his student artists will be on display at the Exhibition.
Mr. Somarthna Gomes is the cerator-Guru and heart & soul life-blood of the Creative Art Scheme of the Mohan Lal Gereo Foundation.
Besides the number of Local and International Art Exhibitions he has held, this is the third one, he will be holding with his students. “Imaginations” (Sith Luu Siththam) is a unique mix of the traditional and modern trends and forms of art on a wide variety of themes ranging from Life and Love to Nature.
Somarathna Gomes’ creations have to be viewed not only with one’s eyes but also with one’s heart. The aim of “Imaginations” (Sith Luu Siththam) is not only to provide optimum opportunities of appreciating the work of art on display but also to leave in their hearts and minds an indelible and ever green imprint of what one gazes upon.
On display, there will be the creations of artists who follow the free Batik Creative Designing Programme organized by the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation. |
| The Best Speaker Contest Final Round &
Free English Classes Awards Ceremony |
The Best Speaker Contest-Final Round & Free English Classes Awards Ceremony organized by the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation (MLGF) in collaboration with the Lyceum International School,(LIS) will be held at the main hall of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda on Sunday the 23rd November 2008. From about 25,000 students from the 73 MLGF English Language training centers, 183 were selected for the Best Speaker Final Competition.
Students from grade 1 to grade 9/10 & 11 will participate in this competition. A cash prize of Rs 20, 000/= and a Gold Medal will be awarded to the student who comes first, a cash prize of Rs 10000/= and a Silver Medal for the second and a cash prize of Rs 5000/= and a Bronze Medal is the student who comes third, in the competition.
Mr.Mohan Lal Grero, the Founder of the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. The English classes were conducted free of charge with the aim of uplifting the language ability of the future generation in Sri Lanka.
